A day in Kaimana

Saturday 1st November, on board the Airaha 2.

The Airaha 2 and the dhow sailed towards Kaimana during the night, taking a break in the early morning to go swimming with whale sharks. Those who wished to could get into the water and have the pleasure of watching these harmless sharks for a few minutes. There are also large dolphins circling around the fishing boats, ignoring the swimmers.

In Kaimana, we must replenish our supplies of water, food and fuel. While Laurent, Dr Gono and Dr Kadar have a meeting with the BUPATI, the passengers can go ashore to go for a walk in town. It is warm on board, in town as well. The day drags on and the box of cakes suffers.

At 6pm we finally leave for Wanoma. From there, those who work on the ground continue on the dhow towards the north until Urisa, while the marine team leaves for the south on board the Airaha 2, towards the island of Pulau Adi.
