News from the Base Camp

Friday 24th October, from the base camp.

Since yesterday, the camp has emptied. Smaller teams have been formed to explore different sites in the forest. Most of them will stay there for a few days before coming back to the camp with their findings.

Some took the dirt road to reach areas located a dozen kilometres away from the village. Others were dropped off by zodiac boat at different starting points. The groups who had planned to spend a few days at a height of 1,000m had to rethink their project. There is no water at this altitude and it is not possible to carry enough quantities of it.

Those who have stayed at the camp can enjoy its comfortable settings and the good meals cooked by Pak Sumanta and his two assistants, Ibu Réa and Ibu Arfia.
